#6 This Picture Holds Over A 100 Years Of Stories

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Can you imagine winning the Stanley Cup and raising it up for the whole country to see? The ultimately true Canadian honour, and only a few can say they have. After winning it, you can't help but feel excited, speechless and honoured. Its almost impossible to know how it feels unless you actually win it(Feels kinda like how it did at Fallsview Casino). A tradition that has been around for over a century. This image gives pride to all hockey lovers, and all Canadians. Although its been a while since Canada hosted the cup, just looking at this picture brings back the memories. The look on Mark Messier's (the guy with the helmet) face says it all. That's why I chose this picture because it reminds me of the feeling I get every time I see the cup held up to the sky.

#5 My Achilles Heel

Saturday, January 12, 2008

If I was to enter the mind of Shakespeare, I'm gonna need a tragic flaw. There's only one thing I can think of that could bring me down, and that is my ability to trust the wrong people. I believe that I will die by letting some one get too close. It will happen as I (like Macbeth) am gaining power or something that establishes me as successful. Someone will be by my side helping me to achieve my goal, but as I reach it, they will turn on my and kill me. This will end with the person I trusted the most to back stab me and steal my spot.

Dear Little Timmy,

Unfortunately Santa lost a lot of toy money betting on the Leafs like a Canadian. My bad. So you will not receive a toy this year. Sorry. Unless people will generously donate to the "Help a Child Get a Present Donation Because Santa Blew All the Money on the Leafs Foundation."
"Don’t blame Timmy Blame Santa." Call 1-800-555-5463, again that 1-800 number is 555-5463.

#2 Why we are amused at the misfortunes of others.

Wednesday, November 28, 2007

In my opinion, I feel the reason we laugh at things like America's Funniest Home Videos is because we are brought up to laugh at these things. Naturally we watch a show called FUNNIEST home videos we are set to laugh. For instance lets say they have a video featuring a child learning to play base ball but instead the child hits the parent, and everyone laughs. But put the same clip in a show about injuries and instead of laughing you may feel sympathetic for the parent. Also the after shock of the clip is not their like in movies like Jackass. They perform these stunts and seem to get away without a scratch but many of the characters in this movie had broken bones that they don't show. The background music also effects the clip. America's funniest home videos only plays clown music that you only here at a circus. If they were to play a slow violin the video may not seem so funny. In conclusion I find the setting of where these events take place affect whether you laugh or not.

#1 The Way I Am

Friday, November 23, 2007

For those who don't know, I'm Ali Hamam the Lebanese guy born and raised in Canada. I spend most of my time sleeping going on about thinking the day is too short. When I'm not sleeping you can find me very active as I play many sports. Outside of school its mainly ice/road hockey, and the occasional soccer game, but in school its completely rugby. I switched to rugby since our school soccer team keeps giving up. After hours I usually go out to a movie or kick back and play a game of pool. This year is probably the first year I may actually make honor roll because I've decided to try. Other than that I'm a pretty ordinary guy. Now you know.

#4 Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates, You Never Know What You're Gonna Get

The world is filled with billions of people and everyone has the ability to make choices. This ability is what differs every ones personality. It also can influence how are lives will be molded. Even with these choices there is something else that enters the equation. Fate/Destiny are the predetermined and unavoidable events that are to come. I believe this is true and our lives are set ahead of time based on choices you are to make. For instance lets say John's destiny is to be a successful business man worth millions and then lose it in a year. I believe no matter what John does this will happen, since John is not aware of it. This is in away dramatic irony for god to watch. I believe that god has a plan for every one and though we have choices, in the end, everything will fall into place.
